Varsity Sound Productions is currently looking for DJs in the Northern Virginia area! This position includes DJing for all different types of private and public events. Varsity Sound operates a mobile DJ model, meaning the DJ and all of the equipment are transported and set up in venues across the DMV area. 

DJs are expected to:

1. Understand how to read a crowd and choose songs based on their interpretation of the crowd

2. Understand the musical requests of the clients and provide them with music of their liking throughout the event

3. Perform seamless transitions between songs, allowing a constant flow of music

4. Set up and break down DJ/audio systems in a timely manner

5. Perform M.C. duties by making announcements and speaking on a microphone comfortably

6. Interact with clients and guests in a professional and friendly manner

An ideal candidate should:

• Understand music fundamentals (BPM, Time Signatures, Rhythm, Key, etc.) to create fluid transitions between songs

• Understand musical genres to read a crowd and play what they want to hear

• Have a valid driver’s license

• Have a car large enough to carry DJ/Audio equipment

• Be able to lift 70lbs comfortably

• Have a general understanding of audio equipment and how it works

• Understand the values and mission of Varsity Sound Productions

An ideal candidate should:

• Understand the workings of audio, video, and lighting systems and equipment

• Be comfortable working in a fast-paced and occasionally stressful environment

• Be able to lift 70lbs comfortably

• Remain professional with clients and guests during live events
